I received a package containing some of the work I have created for Universal. This is the first time seeing them actually printed and its so sick being able to see your own work right infront of you rather than on the screen :D. Also got a bunch of free CD’s from them. Kevin Rudolf of Cash Money records signed his album for me NICEEEEE!!

Jay Sean Universal Republic / Cash Money Records

Follwing the Poster designs I did for Bobby Brackins Universal Republic asked me to create a 11×17 poster for Pop artist Jay Sean. As with the other projects I get given by them they send me pictures they want me to use and copy text :

  • Cash Money / Universal Republic presents
  • MULTI-PLATINUM / INTERNATIONAL SINGER / SONGWRITER / PRODUCER
  • Jay Sean name logo (attached)
  • Sophomore album FREEZE TIME
  • Includes “2012 (It Ain’t The End)” ft. Nicki Minaj
  • jayseanonline.com | myspace.com/jaysean | facebook.com/jaysean | twitter.com/jaysean

They wanted a clean cut typographic solution that incorporates the text and images below are the ideas/concepts I came up with.

I sent them over the 10 visuals above and they liked the second one on the very top row and the one with him on the stairs
They asked for these revisions :

Jay Sean – 11×17 Poster 4.pdf
  1. Take the line out …Cash Money / Universal presents
  2. Change jayseanonline.com TO jayseanworldwide.com
  3. Make the Jay Sean logo a tad bit bigger (not a lot)
  4. Get rid of the black bar at the bottom
  5. Change Sophomore album to…New Album, FREEZE TIME (can we make this line bold and stand out)
  6. There should be an apostrophe in the song title “It Ain’t The End)
  7. Can you put the brown gradient used in the comp below on your overall design?
Jay Sean – 11×17 Poster 7.pdf
  1. Take the line out …Cash Money / Universal presents
  2. Change jayseanonline.com TO jayseanworldwide.com
  3. Can you change his logo color to red or add a red bar like Jay Sean – 11×17 Poster 9.pdf (lets see both)
  4. Change Sophomore album to…New Album, FREEZE TIME (can we make this line bold and stand out)
  5. There should be an apostrophe in the song title “It Ain’t The End)

These are the two finalS that they wanted after the revisions.

Kevin Rudolf “To The Sky” – Designs

Universal Republic asked me to design more POP for another one of their artist “Kevin Rudolf” The brief was simple and they said to create different designs that are in the same fashion/style as the previous posters I did for Lil Jon.  I  Initally created 13 different designs and they picked 6 for me to alter. I decided to arrange the type so its clear and visible. I didn’t want to create anything messy our busy because they wanted the information to be clear and easily readable. Universal Republic Supplied me with images to use for posters, stickers, postcards and snipes. I was also given literature to put on the Posters.

Working for Universal Republic has allowed me to practise working to deadlines on a professional level. I have also learnt how to manage myself better to produce work quickly when its asked.

Below are the  final designs that Universal Republic picked to use for Kevin Rudolf.
“To The Sky” is out now available on iTunes
